Σε ένα Ήρωα Ιδεολόγο - To an Ideologist Hero

Σε ένα Ήρωα Ιδεολόγο

Πίστεψες σε μια Ιδέα,

και θέλησες να αγωνιστείς για εκείνη.

Σου έδωσαν εντολή να σκοτώσεις κάποιον

και το έκανες, στο όνομα της αλήθειας σου.

Σου ζήτησαν να σκοτώσεις κι’ άλλον

και υπάκουσες.

 

Μα όταν αντίκρισες ποιόν σου ζήτησαν να σκοτώσεις,

κοντοστάθηκες, κι' αναρωτήθηκες:

«Ποια χρεία θα 'χει η Ιδέα που υπερασπίζομαι,

αν όλους τους δικούς μου θα σκοτώσω;»

Και αρνήθηκες.

 

Τότε, σου έδωσαν ένα όπλο και σου είπαν: «Πήγαινέ το».

Δεν γνώριζες, ο άμοιρος, ποιους θα συναντούσες.

Στον δρόμο σου είχαν κρυφτεί, λες και το ήξεραν.

 

Όταν σε συνέλαβαν οι εχθροί, ρώτησες:

«Τι θα κερδίσετε, αν με σκοτώσετε;»

Και εκείνοι απάντησαν: «Ένας λιγότερος, είναι καλύτερα.»

 

Σε έδεσαν με σχοινιά και σε βασάνισαν,

για εκείνο το όπλο είπαν πως σε σκότωσαν.

Μα εσύ, τη στιγμή της άρνησης,

έγινες ο ήρωας των ιδεών που εσύ δεν πρόδωσες.

 

Δεν πρόλαβες όμως για να δεις

τι απέγινε η Ιδέα σου,

και όλα για όσα πίστεψες και θυσιάστηκες.

To an Ideologist Hero

You believed in an Idea

you sought to fight for it.

They commanded: “Kill this one,

in the name of your truth.”

And you did.

They commanded: “Kill another.”

And you went.

But the sight of the intended victim

made you stop, and made you wonder:

What is the purpose of this great Idea,

if I must slaughter all my own compatriots?

You laid the weapon down.

 

Then they ordered you to relocate a gun

the very gun for which they killed you.

They were waiting. They knew your path.

 

As they arrested you, you asked,

“What will you gain by taking my life?”

They simply replied, “One less. That’s better.”

 

For that simple refusal, they chained you,

they tortured you for that relocated weapon,

but in that moment, you became the hero

of your betrayed ideals.

 

Sadly, you did not live

to see the fate of the ideas you died for.

Christmas Eve Night! A heavy Christmas Eve hung over the world. Outside, the cold cut like a knife through an eerie frost. Inside, the house was equally glacial—a silent freeze that seemed to have sucked all the warmth out of the hearth. An old woman sat alone in her carved wooden rocking chair by the window of the frost-rimed room. She held a family photograph, yellowed by time, clutched in her hands with a sacred intensity. A threadbare, tattered blanket struggled to keep even a flickering warmth within her frail, withered body.
