Ανατολή στο Βαρώσι!

Χάραξε η αυγή στην πόλη μας

βλαστήσαν τα κρίνα του γιαλού

ώρα να ενωθούμε όλοι μας

και μην τυρβάζουμε γι’ αλλού.

 

Ρόδισε η αυγή στην πόλη μας

ανθήσαν τα κρίνα του γιαλού

μας καρτερά η πόλη μας

κ’ εμείς κοιτάζουμε αλλού.

 

Δρόσισε η αυγή στην πόλη μας

μυρήσαν τα κρίνα του γιαλού

ας μονιάσουμε τώρα όλοι μας

για χάριν του καλού.

Sunrise in Varosha

The sun appears above our town,

A golden light is shining down.

The sea lilies now start to bloom,

Dispelling shadows, ending gloom.

 

Let us unite, stand side by side,

And never look where we can hide.

The morning breaks, the light is bright,

Our city bathes in golden light.

 

The lilies on the shore are fair,

Our lost home misses us out there.

It longs for us to come back home,

Instead of choosing paths to roam.

Christmas Story!

Christmas Eve Night! A heavy Christmas Eve hung over the world. Outside, the cold cut like a knife through an eerie frost. Inside, the house was equally glacial—a silent freeze that seemed to have sucked all the warmth out of the hearth. An old woman sat alone in her carved wooden rocking chair by the window of the frost-rimed room. She held a family photograph, yellowed by time, clutched in her hands with a sacred intensity. A threadbare, tattered blanket struggled to keep even a flickering warmth within her frail, withered body. Beside her, a lamp blackened by soot and low on oil cast only a faint, yellowish whisper of light into the dense shadows. The old woman gazed with a vacant, unfocused look out the window, her head nodding rhythmically to the motion of the chair. It moved like a steady pendulum, carrying her thoughts far away, beyond the seas and the mountains. Her weary spirit abandoned her tired body and flew to foreign lands to find her only son, whom she had not seen...
