Ρόδισε η αυγή - The Dawn's Embrace

Ρόδισε η αυγή.

Στρώνει η νύκτα της αυγής χρυσόπλεκτο σεντόνι,

γεννιέται ο ήλιος στ’ ανοικτά τη θάλασσα ανταμώνει.

Σαν βλέπει τον ήλιο η αυγή κρυφά τον ερωτεύεται,

στέκει για λίγο να τον δει στη λάμψη του μαγεύεται.

 

Χρυσένδυτος ο ήλιος λαμπερός από ψηλά κοιτάζει

ροδίζει η αυγούλα ντροπαλά τον ήλιο σαν θαυμάζει.

Γαλήνια η μέρα φωτεινή στο βάθος ξεπροβάλλει,

κλέβει την θέση της αυγής την ομορφιά, τα κάλλη.

The Dawn's Embrace

The darkness lifts, the sleepy night is done,

The gilded light is painted by the sun.

The vast horizon where the waters lie,

A brilliant canvas 'neath the morning sky.

 

The Dawn beholds the Sun with silent love,

And watches his slow entrance from above.

His shining form in golden robes is dressed,

A fiery passion rising in his breast.

 

She glows with wonder, blushing in her shame,

To feel the heat of his intense gold flame.

Then calm and bright, the coming Day does stay,

To chase the gentle, blushing Dawn away.

Christmas Story!

Christmas Eve Night! A heavy Christmas Eve hung over the world. Outside, the cold cut like a knife through an eerie frost. Inside, the house was equally glacial—a silent freeze that seemed to have sucked all the warmth out of the hearth. An old woman sat alone in her carved wooden rocking chair by the window of the frost-rimed room. She held a family photograph, yellowed by time, clutched in her hands with a sacred intensity. A threadbare, tattered blanket struggled to keep even a flickering warmth within her frail, withered body. Beside her, a lamp blackened by soot and low on oil cast only a faint, yellowish whisper of light into the dense shadows. The old woman gazed with a vacant, unfocused look out the window, her head nodding rhythmically to the motion of the chair. It moved like a steady pendulum, carrying her thoughts far away, beyond the seas and the mountains.
